TATA NEXON EV LAUNCHED AT RS. 13.99 LAKHS - INDIA'S MOST AFFORDABLE ELECTRIC CAR


TATA Motors has officially launched its new electric offering the Nexon EV at an incredibly affordable price tag of Rs. 13.99 Lakhs (ex-showroom) across India. The Nexon EV offers 3 variants the XM, XZ+ and XZ+ LUX, with the top end priced at Rs. 15.99 lakhs (ex-showroom).


The Nexon EV will be the first electric vehicle from TATA Motors to be powered by Ziptron, which is its in-house developed modular electric vehicle powertrain platform comprising of a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor and an IP67 rated dust and water proof, liquid-cooled High energy density Lithium ion battery pack.


The Nexon EV is powered by an AC Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor that has 129 PS of power and a liquid-cooled 30.2 kWh IP67 rated High energy density Lithium ion battery pack. The company boasts of acceleration figures of 0-100 in 9.9 seconds with 245Nm of instant torque and gradability of upto 34%.

The liquid-cooled Lithium ion battery on the Nexon EV can be charged upto 80% within 60 minutes on a DC fast charger (CC2) and can also be charged using a standard home based 15ampere socket from 10% - 90% in about 8.5 hours. The Nexon EV has an ARAI certified range of 312 km according MIDC Cycle Test (Modified Indian Driving Cycle).

On the features side, the Nexon EV comes with a host of smart and connected features such as smart regenerative braking, Hill Ascent and Descent Assist, A connected car app to remotely control, connect and track your vehicle along with 35 intelligent features, Wearable key & PEPS, Fully automatic climate control, 7" TFT digital instrument cluster with full graphic display, camera based reverse park assist and dual airbags.


The TATA Group is tapping into their various specialisation companies to come together and form what could be India's biggest EV ecosystem. TATA power has already started setting up charging stations across the country and has close to a 100 up and running and plan to set upto 300 more by end of March, Tata Chemicals is working on battery chemistry, Tata AutoComp on battery packs and other components.



Tata Motors plans to retail the Nexon EV across it's 60 dealer outlets in 22 cities. The vehicle comes with a 8 Year or 1,60,000 km warranty on the battery pack and motor as well as a 3 Year or 1,25,000 km on the vehicle. Overall, the Nexon EV is full of promises and could potentially revolutionise the way India moves.
